Decoration trends: materials and colours for 2021
The Covid times have taught us to value health even more. That is why it is not surprising that new trends in decoration have replaced plastic with natural materials.
At Naranja Spain we are fans of this trend, we have always bet on quality over quantity and without a doubt marble, wood, stone, linens, terracotta ... are materials that last over time.
- Natural materials
Materials that inspire us to enter nature, such as wood, a highly combinable material that contributes to giving a cozy touch to our homes. Of course, always try to go for sustainable and environmentally friendly process.
Untreated light woods, with rounded shapes, creating a feeling of naturalness and a carefree character are also booming.
However, this year darker woods like wenge are making a comeback, paired with metal handles and legs adds a touch of retro glamor.
We are saying goodbye to whitewashed woods while the rustic returns. A fusion of walnut, gold, brass and black marble gives a very sophisticated feel to many pieces of furniture.
Another material that resurfaces from the past is marble, already mentioned before; dressing kitchens, floors and turning bathrooms into new spas. A material that interior designer Katty Schiebeck (already featured in an article on minimalist designers) uses with unwavering style.
You can also choose stones, microcements, ceramics ... to add a natural touch to the decoration of your home instead of marble.
How can we add the natural trend to our walls?
This decoration brings us walls with textures, sandy and irregular finishes, wallpaper with floral and fauna patterns, combined with moldings.
Colours, colours ...
For those looking for a relaxing and cozy home, your best allies are neutral but warm tones such as beige, cream, ivory, camel, mocha …
For the bold ones your choice: a range of colors that provide luminosity and joy. We are talking about combining colors such as coral and rust with blue and touches of pink in delicate tones, something very subtle. It's a fun, retro palette inspired by the 70s.
On the other hand, the 2021 trend in decoration takes us into nature, well-being and calm with brown, terracotta and different shades of green that go from lemongrass green and eucalyptus, to sage green and khaki.
These colors create a relaxed atmosphere that keeps stress and anxiety away, a condition that affects many today due to the situation that Covid-19 has generated.
